Seventy years later the shop is on McGowen Street and the name on the sign is still the name on the license. Mr. Pace's four daughters, Dorothy, Hatti, Emily and Darleane, run the business today. His grandson Jonathan is the lead plumber. A son-in-law runs the office. When you call Pace, you are calling the family.
Pace went about seventy years without a website, because it never needed one. Most of the work still comes from people who have used us before, and from their neighbors and their children. That is a slow way to build a business and a very hard one to fake.
The family running it today
Mr. Pace's four daughters, Dorothy, Hatti, Emily and Darleane, own and operate the company. His grandson Jonathan is the lead plumber and the third generation on the trucks. A son-in-law runs the office. It is a small company on purpose, and the person who takes your call is the person who is accountable for the job.
Why there was no website until recently
Pace went roughly seventy years without one. The work came from repeat customers, their neighbors, and their grown children who now own houses of their own. Referral is a slow way to build a business and an extremely hard one to fake, and it is why a company this size has outlasted most of the plumbers who have advertised against it.
The shop on McGowen Street
The building holds both halves of the business: the service side and a plumbing supply counter with tool rental, open to the public Monday through Saturday. The sign painted on the brick has said "Pace is the place" for a long time. We did not write that line for a website. It was already up there.
What has not changed since 1955
